Enhancing Attachment Bonds
in Clinical, Community, Family and Educational Settings

Friday March 2, 2018
8:30 – 3pm

Gateway Community College
New Haven, Connecticut

A conference organized by the Attachment Network of Connecticut, the Connecticut Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology, and the Yale Child Study Center.

Why a conference on Attachment?

Attachment relationships are fundamental: they influence the social, emotional, cognitive and behavioral adjustment of all individuals. Attachment patterns are established early in childhood and become the model of each person’s particular disposition towards relating to others. When our attachment relationships are disturbed, it can impact all areas of functioning. Understanding the role of attachment in relationships can enhance the effectiveness of all who work with children, adolescents, adults, families and communities.

Who might benefit from a conference on Attachment?

Clinicians, teachers and other school personnel, child-care providers, pediatricians, and those who work in various roles in the community can benefit from understanding how secure attachments are cultivated. Interventions that support secure attachment not only may enhance mental health, they also provide novel strategies to address behavioral difficulties.
